When instructed to relocate a twelve-section modular building from Hixon, Staffordshire to Wolverhampton, Elevas was appointed to manage the complete lifting and transport operation. By combining contract lifting, specialist transport and installation within a single coordinated programme, our team provided a seamless solution from initial planning through to final positioning on site.
Every successful project begins with preparation. Before any equipment was mobilised, a member of our Appointed Person team attended both locations to undertake detailed site assessments, reviewing lifting requirements, site access, crane positioning and transport logistics. This information formed the basis of the project’s Contract Lift Risk Assessment, Method Statement and comprehensive lift plan, ensuring every stage of the operation was carefully considered before work commenced.
With the planning complete, our team coordinated the mobilisation of the equipment required for the operation. At the Hixon site, a Grove GMK5120L 120-tonne all-terrain mobile crane was positioned to dismantle the modular building. Working methodically, each of the twelve building sections was lifted individually onto one of our specialist three-axle flatbed vehicles, allowing every load to be secured and prepared for transport.
Once loaded, each flatbed completed the journey to Wolverhampton, where a Liebherr LTM 1090-4.2 90-tonne all-terrain mobile crane was already positioned and prepared to receive the arriving modules. As each vehicle arrived on site, the building sections were carefully offloaded and lifted directly into their final positions, allowing the structure to be reassembled efficiently and safely.
Throughout the operation, close coordination between the lifting team, transport drivers and site personnel ensured every stage progressed to programme. By carefully sequencing the transport movements with the lifting operation at both locations, unnecessary delays were eliminated and the installation was completed within the planned timescale.
