The Story Behind Elevas

Every project has a story.

Some begin with the arrival of a modular building at a UK port. Others start on a construction site, inside a manufacturing facility or alongside a busy rail network. Different industries. Different challenges. Yet every successful project has one thing in common.

At Elevas, we believe the best projects aren’t simply delivered by individual suppliers working independently. They’re achieved when every stage works together seamlessly, with every detail carefully considered long before work begins.

Although Elevas is a new business, the experience behind it stretches back almost five decades. In 1977, our founders began their careers with the purchase of a single five-tonne mobile crane, laying the foundations for what would become Dewsbury & Proud Ltd. Through a commitment to safety, professionalism and exceptional customer service, that single crane grew into the Midlands’ most respected crane hire and contract lifting businesses, supporting projects across construction, infrastructure, manufacturing, rail, utilities and heavy industry throughout the United Kingdom.

Those years were never simply about expanding a fleet. They were about understanding how projects succeed, building lasting relationships, solving problems and learning that the greatest challenges are often found not within individual services, but in the coordination between them.

As projects became increasingly complex for the D&P team, so too did customers’ requirements. Transport. Lifting. Secure storage. Careful planning. Specialist logistics. Each element was being delivered by experienced providers, yet customers often found themselves becoming the link between them all—managing contractors, coordinating programmes and ensuring information reached the right people at the right time.

It became increasingly clear that businesses weren’t simply looking for another crane company or another transport provider. They were looking for confidence. Confidence that someone was looking at the whole project. Confidence that every stage would work together. Confidence that one experienced team was taking responsibility for bringing everything into alignment.

That realisation became the catalyst for Elevas.

Established following the purchase of three Volvo STGO CAT 3 6×4 tractor units, Elevas was created as a dedicated project support business, designed to bring together specialist transport, lifting, storage and logistics through one experienced point of contact. Rather than asking customers to coordinate multiple suppliers, we coordinate every moving part ourselves, ensuring projects progress safely, efficiently and exactly as planned.

From the moment an enquiry is received, we begin by understanding the project as a whole – How will equipment arrive on site? Does the movement require specialist transport planning? Will secure storage be needed before installation? How will lifting operations integrate with the wider programme? Most importantly, what challenges can be identified today to prevent delays tomorrow?

By asking those questions early, we’re able to simplify even the most complex projects, improving communication, reducing unnecessary administration and providing our customers with complete confidence throughout every stage of delivery.

Our headquarters, strategically positioned close to Junction 10 of the M6, play an important part in that approach. Located in the heart of England, our facilities provide an ideal central hub for supporting projects across the nation. Whether equipment is arriving through a southern port, travelling north or supporting a project here in the Midlands, our location enables efficient mobilisation while providing secure warehousing, extensive external storage and excellent transport links from one purpose-built base.

Of course, facilities and equipment only tell part of the story. The greatest strength of any project is the people behind it.

Throughout almost fifty years within the lifting industry, our directors have built trusted relationships with respected businesses across transport, logistics and specialist lifting. Those partnerships continue to shape Elevas today, allowing us to bring together the right expertise, equipment and capabilities for every individual project.

We don’t believe success comes from trying to do everything ourselves. We believe it comes from bringing together the right people to achieve the very best outcome for our customers. That philosophy continues to guide every decision we make.

While staff experience has shaped where we are today, Elevas’ focus is firmly on the future. We’re continuing to invest in our people, our facilities and our capabilities while expanding the range of project support services we provide. Today, we’re proud to be supporting businesses from the South Coast of England through to Scotland, while also developing relationships with overseas organisations that share our commitment to quality, professionalism and dependable project delivery.
